Think About It Thursday #63 -- THE SOLUTION IS HERE!

Huh?
NOW you can see it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maybe it'll be okay if we call this place "Think About It Thursday,"
but where Thursday is just a suggestion, not a mandate, m'kay?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mark and Rajiv, it is not the remains of an audio blowout. And, like TAIT, cricket is weird any day of the week! (The truth is, I don't know squat about cricket, and would probably appreciate it were I only to watch a few innings. Um... they do call the game sections innings, don't they?)
The win this week goes to A2 Observer, for indeed this is a metal electrical box attached to a stud, surrounded by insulation, and the wiring goes to a light switch. Note that the white wire has been marked black, indicating that the switch breaks the hot (black) side of the circuit. Nice job!
Richard, I'm sorry bloke, but this is a standard switch, and it is located in a bedroom. However, it is a basement bedroom, and you never know, there could be a flood which turns the area into a major electrical hot zone, making the next person who touches it wish for a GFCI.
Wade, dude, I'm glad for you that you enjoy a doobie once in a while, but it's better to play this game without the aid of mental depressants. It hardly counts when you give the very same answer as the person in front of you did! Hahaha!
Very creative and informed answer from Juli! I like those little electromagnet servos that ring the chimes. And since they're low-voltage, using just a butter knife on them is okay. How would you like some nice tools for your birthday?
JP, just one word for you: Shut up, Beavis!
Hmmm... interesting guess from the crew over at Wednesday. I have never heard of a hard-wired vibrator before. (Heh-heh! You said hard. Heh-heh-heh-heh.)
Congrats, A2 Observer, for being so observant! And thanks for playing. You got yourself a link over there on the left.

Where I am, it's still Thursday, so here's your next puzzler.

Not that it matters at all, but I have a song from 1988 or so stuck in my head: it's Winger singing She's Only Seventeen. I wonder what Kip Winger is doing today...? Probably still has huge hair and trying to totally score.

Take a look at the Huh? clue and tell us what it is. See you next Thursday!

and did you know, that because of the time difference TAIT comes to me on a friday? that means WIIW becomes my TAIT, and TAIT replaces the defunct Figure it Out Friday, which if it ever came back would become my Study it Saturday!!! confusing eh? Fri 13-Apr-2007 07:33

This is the remains of a stereo that has been blasted by the sound of The Who.
Cricket? Ah, cricket is a superb game. Baseball pales in comparison.

Looks like an electrical box attached to a wall stud and you're doing some pretty heavy wiring. Fri 13-Apr-2007 11:56

Picking up more specifically from A2's posting, it looks like wiring for a GFCI (Ground Fault Current Interrupter) receptacle, likely in your bathroom or somewhere where water is around.... Fri 13-Apr-2007 12:55

I so recognize this.

Long version: When it gets really humid at my house, the doorbell freaks out and I have to drag out a chair (otherwise known as a feminine step ladder) and pop the cover off off the bell part of the door bell and use my butter knife (otherwise known as a feminine screwdriver) to disconnect one of the thingeemabobs (otherwise known as a lead) from the whatchamacallit (otherwise known as a terminal) so that the stupid bell will stop ringing and the transformer will stop that horrible buzzing noise and the dogs will shut the heck up...

Short version: wires on/to the chimes part of a doorbell.
